Air Conditioning Inspections

Air conditioning can be a cost effective and flexible way of cooling and heating buildings. However, older, oversized and poorly maintained systems can use a lot more electricity and cost more to operate than necessary.

To minimise unnecessary energy use, legislation has been introduced. It puts a legal obligation on the operators of air conditioning systems to have them inspected.

The inspections are intended to identify wasteful use of electricity. From your point of view, the less electricity you use, the more money you save.

What has to be inspected?

12kW Systems: All air conditioning systems over 12 kW must have been inspected by 4th January 2011
250kW Systems: All air conditioning systems over 250 kW must have been inspected by 4th January 2009
New Systems: All air conditioning systems over 12 kW installed after January 2008 must be inspected within 5 years

Who does the inspections?

Air Conditioning inspection reports can only be produced by qualified, accredited assessors. CLIMATE are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers (CIBSE), giving you the assurance of professional standards, qualifications and oversight.

What’s the benefit?

The comprehensive inspection and report will show what measures you can take to see immediate improvements in running costs and the effectiveness of your systems.

What are the penalties?

The regulations will be strictly enforced by Building Control. Anyone not complying with the legislation runs the risk of fines and prosecution. CLIMATE can help ensure that you are not caught out.
